‘Mek Summat’ at Saltaire art and food fair this Bank Holiday

Crafty locals are being encouraged to “Mek Summat” this Bank Holiday Monday in a call to get creative whatever your age.

The district’s artists and makers will be teaching adults and kids to “have a go” with sculpture, badge making, face painting and more.

There will also be eight food producers from across the region providing meat free and vegan delights – all costing no more than £4 per dish.

Visitors can pop by Caroline Street Social Club for Neapolitan pizza, authentic Mexican dishes, cakes, Indian nibbles, comfort food and more.

The fair has been organised by Adam Blackwood and Jenna Greenwood who hosted an art and makers fair in Saltaire earlier in the year.

Adam said: “There were a couple of vegan stalls there and they were really well received.

“I think we don’t do too bad for vegan and vegetarian options in Bradford but it can still be difficult to find.

“It’s a chance for people to get together. It’s a chance for people to showcase what they do.

“It’s a chance for kids and grown up’s to try something they haven’t done before, try new things out.

“Making something is good for the soul. We all need the chance to unwind.

“We’ve a number of local artists coming along to lead ‘have a go’ activities

“It should be a really good event.”

The food and art fest is aimed at not only bringing people into Saltaire but entertaining residents as well.

The low-cost ‘small plate’ mean people can try a variety of different treats without being too hard on the wallet.

Adam said: “It’s also a great chance for people who perhaps don’t generally ‘eat vegan’ to come along and give it a go.

“We’re sure they’ll see what the dishes miss in meat or dairy they make up for with great flavour and flair.”

The full list of vendors includes: Miski Mexican Food; The Willow Tree Cafe; Mozafellas Pizza; Sonia Sandhu – Indian food; Sift Otley; Black Day Bakes; Frankly Delicious and Tambourine Coffee.

‘Mek Summat’ will run from 11am till 4pm.

Entry is free.
