SAGINAW, MI — Circus Time Snacks has a new name, a new location and new plant-based menu offerings that even meat lovers can enjoy.
The restaurant, which until recently had locations inside the Fashion Square Mall and Bay City Town Center food courts, has been rebranded Cafe Verzuz and is now located at downtown Saginaw’s SVRC Marketplace, 203 S. Washington Ave.
It’s called Cafe Verzuz because business owners Daun-Te Dottery Sr. and Shirelle Carthan-Dottery, who eat vegan and vegetarian diets, have added more plant-based options to the menu, which are proving to be just as popular if not more so than their traditional circus-inspired snacks.
“Now we’ve got the circus food versus the vegan food,” Daun-Te Dottery Sr. said. “The vegan is starting to win. It’s amazing to me.”
Dottery Sr. said word is spreading fast as Cafe Verzuz customers try the new menu items, such as the popular vegan rib tips, and post about their favorites on social media.
The couple said their decision to relocate to SVRC Marketplace in January is already paying off.
“We gained a lot of new clients, new customers, so it was a great move,” Dottery Sr. said.
