Cy-Fair Helping Hands founder Jean Dreyer retires

Jean Dreyer, founder of Cy-Fair Helping Hands, has officially retired as director of homeless initiatives as of March 18.

Dreyer founded CFHH in 2011, beginning in a soup serving pick-up truck with her husband John Dreyer. The pair collected supplies and food for homeless individuals and sold their antique business to fund Cy-Fair Helping Hands.

“She is a big piece of the heart of the organization,” Janet Ryan, director of CFHH, said. “Her focus has been and will continue to be doing what she can to help people who are living on the street. Retirement allows her to focus on that and to leave the business end of it with me.”

Dreyer will continue to volunteer with CFHH in the Emergency Shelter program and will stay on the board of directors. Her executive role will not see a replacement.

“She assures us that she’s just a phone call away,” Ryan said. “She has institutional knowledge that no one else does. She is the one who set the direction of this organization and has adjusted it over the years. Having her input is still very valuable.”

Dreyer said she thanks all who have joined or helped CFHH over the years.

“Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus as you serve the homeless and hungry,” she said. “I appreciate you and your support.”
